Project: Urban Beach is an ongoing collaboration working with local environmental artist Karen Simpson and aims to explore our fantastic stretch of coastline on the North Kent Coast and identify how people relate to and use the coast, through artistic activities.
Throughout this project we have run a series of activities open to the public, including adult and children’s workshops, to raise awareness of the local beach environment, developing ideas and furthering the goals of the project.

The first stage of the project culminated in a vibrant exhibition exploring our relationship with our stretch of the coast included contributions by  Karen Simpson, Nicholas Godsell and several local community groups,  including over 1183 plaster pebbles decorated by members of the public during the summer of 2013.

The initial Urban Beach project received funding from Canterbury City Council; Herne Bay in Bloom and Herne Bay Town Partners.
The project was supported by Reculver Visitor Centre and CCC Foreshore Services Department.
